minority groups such as Miao, bouyei and Dong have found their home in thousands
of mountains and hills of Guizhou. Living in adverse environment with backward
communication and blocked information, they seem to be isolated the
outside world. And because of this, they created diversified primitive culture
and preserved precious ethnic coultural relics. The most representative
are textiles and silver ornaments.
Guizhou's terrific natural scenery and enchanting country life have attracted
a lot of scholars and tourists from home and abroad. However, most minority
people of Guizhou are still living in great poverty. We sincerely hope this
problem can be a big concern of those who are interested in the developing
area and its people.
Wang Yaxin , a professional photographer from Guiyang, Capital of Guizhou
Province ,and his wife Huqin spent years in the huge mountains collecting
ethnic textiles and photographing. Lots of these photos
are about the country scenery and , more improtant, the condition of local
ethnic people who live in poverty. We are now showing the photos here and
hope to have co-operation with people who have interest in old textile sales
or helping project for local people. |
